Recently there's been a great interest shown in piobaireachd within the state, which has been proven by Gordon Nichol (current president and founder of the Utah Piobaireachd Society). Slowly people, and not just pipers, are starting to appreciate it more than ever before. Based on this, and inquiries/encouragement I've gotten from some, I've decided to start offering group lessons. I know it may not be as effective to teach on this basis so rather than thinking of it as a group lesson it's best to look at it more along the lines of a workshop. Topics will be discussed in depth and strengthened by several examples. Such topics are:
- structure
- presentation
- and the approach to understanding piobaireachd as a musical form.
Piobaireachd is not and no longer has to be a mystery. Once a good understanding of the above things are in place it's surprising how much more enjoyable piobaireachd will become.
Workshops will be held bi-monthly but details are still yet to be determined. Keep an eye out in the "Instruction" area for more information.
